WHAT HAPPENED?
Bellingham created Champions League history and equalled Casillas' record on Wednesday when he took to the field for Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final fixture against Arsenal at Santiago Bernabeu. He appeared in the Champions League for the 47th time in his career, the most for a player aged 21 or below. Yet it ended up being a tough night for Bellingham as Madrid were dumped out of the tournament.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Gunners carried a 3-0 lead to Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and were handed a glorious chance to extend that advantage in the opening stages of the second leg. After Raul Asencio clipped Mikel Merino's legs from behind inside the area, a penalty was awarded to the visitors, but Bukayo Saka's weak shot was comfortably parried away by Thibaut Courtois. Soon after the penalty miss, Madrid thought they had a chance to equalise when Kylian Mbappe went down inside the Arsenal box after a challenge from Declan Rice. The referee initially booked the Gunners midfielder and awarded a penalty, but VAR overturned the decision.
